The boroughs of Guildford and Waverley in Surrey are rich in history, with vibrant economies and stunning natural landscapes. They are also hugely diverse areas with prosperous communities alongside others needing more support.

Guildford is the county town for Surrey. Its dynamic local economy is home to many businesses at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies, making it a significant contributor to the regional and UK economy. Waverley is home to the towns of Farnham, Godalming, Haslemere and Cranleigh, each brimming with independent shops and restaurants, as well as a host of charming rural villages, all with their own unique character and appeal. The boroughs are renowned centres for heritage, culture and sport. With the University of Surrey and the University of the Creative Arts, the boroughs can boast world-class learning. Within easy reach of London, the south coast, and three airports, they also make an ideal home for enterprise. Southwest Surrey area offers a fantastic quality of life that attracts entrepreneurs, families and nature lovers alike and is wellserved by excellent schools, healthcare and Local facilities.

Guildford and Waverley Councils are ambitious for their services at a time of great financial constraint and are ready to take difficult decisions to prioritise vulnerable people and reduce our impact on the environment. Both are housing authorities, collectively responsible for 10,000 homes. The Councils have embarked on a partnership that will help to sustain services in the face of increasing financial pressure across local government and growing demand. We currently share a Joint Management Team, which is already making savings. By combining our strengths, we are not only making efficiency savings but are also working to improve our local services and protect them for the future.

Our councils are united by a commitment to open and transparent local government and have made changes to governance and financial planning to enable councillors to take the difficult decisions that will be necessary in the coming years.
